One night Mason Chambers and his friends sneak off to the woods, and they spot Mason’s father coming from a mysterious cabin. The intrigue gets the better of Mason, and they investigate the cabin. In the basement, captive inside an electrified cage, they discover a terrifying monster. As they flee in panic, they accidentally release the monster, unleashing it on the community.

Mason and his friends try to uncover the mystery behind the monster that they dub the Superunknown. Meanwhile, Mason’s parents desperately try to capture the monster before it wreaks havoc on the town. And what Mason and his friends will discover is that the Superunknown was spawned in a Faustian bargain that Mason’s parents made with a shadowy figure known as The Caretaker. To save Mason’s life at birth, they also had to care for the Superunknown. Mason and the monster would share a heartbeat. If one dies, so does the other. And now Mason must now confront the monster that his parents have been shielding him from his entire life.

All this comes together for a third act we haven’t seen before. Because while this should be a slay-the-beast climax, it can’t be -- you can’t kill the monster without killing our protagonist. So while Mason has to figure out a way to capture the bloodthirsty creature, the police and the community just want to kill it. We’ll watch as Mason and his friends try to keep the Superunknown alive but contained -- while all these other people in town are gunning for the creature. And ultimately, Mason will have to grapple with the dark truth of his existence: as long as he’s alive, others may have to die.
